BlackGurl Inc. has expanded its workshop series in the last three years, introducing a literacy component, BlackGurl’s Read Too!, and creating a practical resource guide for parents and teachers, 12 Ways to Improve the Lives of African-American Girls RightNow!

In 2009, BlackGurl Inc. was awarded the Chicago Girls Coalition Advocacy Award. The organization was chosen out of twenty other girls programs in the city of Chicago.

BlackGurl Inc. recently completed an outcome based research project at Roosevelt University. We surveyed and interviewed the parents of 20 participants to find out if BlackGurl Inc. improves the self-esteem of the participants. The results were indicated that 85% of the respondents felt that their daughters self-esteem had been positively impacted by our program. Overall, the parents said they would recommend this program to other parents.
