BlackGurl Inc.’s Founder and President, Lisa Butler, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Roosevelt University. The women’s advocate also recently completed a 20-hour SIHLE HIV/AIDS intervention certification program. She is currently writing a HIV/ AIDS curriculum for women ages 18 – 40.

Ms. Butler is a Meld Certified Site Coordinator and Group Support Facilitator with extensive training received through the State of Illinois’ Ounce of Prevention Program. In addition, she possesses a certificate from the Red Cross as a HIV/AIDS Prevention Instructor. Lisa’s background also includes seven years as the Site Coordinator for the YWCA Harris Center’s Young Parent Program and Parent Group Coordinator as well as Preventing Initiative Coordinator for Family Focus of Englewood.

Lisa’s volunteer service includes Tesla Alternative High School, the Forever Free Program, Flame Educational Services and Style for Charity where she sits on the advisory board as well as the Chicago Women’s Foundation where she serves as a member of the African-American Council member.
