BlackGurl Inc. provides curriculum-based workshops and group support to African-American females ages 12-19. The girls and young women selected for our programs represent the entire range of behavioral and academic spectrum of schools we have served. BlackGurl Inc. programs are intended to empower ALL girls and young women, not just those who have been labeled “at risk.”
The workshops, seminars and support groups provide girls and young women opportunities for personal growth and self-awareness. We encourage and promote strong healthy self-regard, critical thinking, and positive peer support with the ultimate goal of empowering girls and young women to change the world.
The BlackGurl Inc. service goals are designed to:
- Promote academic excellence
- Encourage and promote critical thinking and high self regard
- Discuss and explore feminism and its relevance in the lives of women in the 21st century.
- Foster unity and sisterhood
- Provide information about HIV/AIDS prevention
